Who can resist falling in love with Machu Picchu? It doesn’t matter that now people can’t bring tripods, selfie sticks, large backpacks, smoke or feed the free llamas inside the citadel; the wise Inca rulers found an unbelievable spot to build their luxury retreat, which has become the luxury destination and tour site for hundreds of thousands of visitors every year! Yesterday, July 11th 2017, the BBC Travel Instagram account posted the most amazing Machu Picchu shot!

The BBC Travel Instagram post has become a hit among users: joyful, amazed comments, lots of hearts, happy faces and thumbs-up e-mojis from people who have visited Machu Picchu and want to go again, or from people who want to do it after seeing the most amazing Machu Picchu shot. Everybody praising the sublime beauty of one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. Conspiracy theorists have some comments stating that the shot is a fake… however, long, wide rainbows are not unusual in Cusco city or Machu Picchu itself, many visitors have already seen them while doing the tour at the citadel.

Currently, this great picture, the most amazing Machu Picchu shot, posted on the BBC Travel Instagram has more than 23.000 likes and counting; “One of the best places to visit in the world. I would recommend going to everyone.” . This is the note people is on when talking about the most amazing Machu Picchu shot! This photo has been taken from the Inti Punku (Sun Gate) which was the entrance to the citadel back in Inca times and continue being so nowadays; the Inti Punku is the previous stop on all Machu Picchu tours, and people have a great time there relaxing, chatting, enjoying the landscape and taking many pictures. The place has also free Andean-only camelids peacefully walking around, like the llama shown on the picture posted on the BBC Travel Instagram account.

With or without rainbow, Machu Picchu positively is one of the planet’s top destinations; the Incas had the perfect, right eye to find a place where to build a luxury retreat for their royals; everything was designed under the concepts of relaxing and spirituality. Ah, and harmony with nature of course, as can be witnessed on the most amazing Machu Picchu shot, a current hit on the BBC Travel Instagram account. To get to Machu Picchu from Cusco city on Inca days, they had to walk until there, but the point about these Andean hikes is that as you go on, you start connecting to the strong energy nature releases all along, so it is not really an effort but a very healthy activity to recover from the demands of regular life; once at the entrance of the citadel (Inti Punku) – from where the most amazing Machu Picchu shot was taken-, it’s like being on an alternative, better reality, on the edge of a wonderful, energetic valley, as shown on the BBC Travel Instagram photo. And finally inside the citadel, it’s like you’re not on the border of the circle anymore but on its center, which is just as amazing or even more… there are several researchers who maintain that in Machu Picchu the Inca emperors and leaders used to do mystical ceremonies, drinking Wachuma or Ayahuasca beverages, which are plants found in the Andes and the Amazon, and entering a higher state of consciousness, from which they obtained insights and solutions for the development and wise guidance of the empire. It is also said that when the Spanish invaders arrived, the Inca leaders kind of had neglected the old ways, and were on a struggle for power between two royalty brothers who wanted to be the emperor, Huascar and Atahualpa, who were in Cusco city and in Quito (currently Ecuador) respectively. The Spanish invasion finally marked the end of the Inca empire.

But their legacy still benefits us. Machu Picchu was a luxury place for vacation (the BBC Travel Instagram picture quite shows it…), for political decisions and for elevated spirituality, all at the same time; nowadays, it is Latin America’s premier travel destination, for the unforgettable beauty of its location, the transforming energy of nature, the rich architecture and history of the citadel and also the top quality service tour operators provide.
