Peru has a rich history and so there are many archeological sites or ruins all over the country, from Inca times and from other cultures that existed before the Incas. These can be found in the Cusco area which has many famous ones such as Sacsayhuaman and Machu Picchu, but they can also be found in other parts of the country including Lima, Trujillo, Nazca, Puno, Ica, and in many other areas.
Sites in Lima include Pachacamac, which was built by pre-Inca peoples who inhabited the area. Chan Chan is located in the Trujillo area, and near Nazca are the Nazca Lines, a series of large figures that resemble animals. Cusco of course has many sites, but not just Machu Picchu, there are numerous other Inca and pre-Inca sites in Cusco including another site similar to Machu Picchu. Puno also has numerous sites, some of which were built by the Incas. Sillustani is one of the sites in the Puno area.
