Many people from all over the world come to see Machu Picchu. A lot of people do not know that there are 2 mountains surrounding Machu Picchu called Machu Picchu mountain and Huayna Picchu mountain. Machu Picchu means old mountain in Quechua while Huayna Picchu means young mountain. Huayna Pichhu is the mountain that you see in a lot of the pictures of Machu Picchu.
Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu mountains both have a limited number of people who can climb per day, and there are more tickets available for Machu Picchu mountain than for Huayna Picchu mountain. Huayna Picchu entrance tickets cost slightly more than those for Machu Picchu but not by much. Huayna Picchu houses other ruins, known as the temple of the moon. Climbing Huayna Picchu takes about an hour up and another hour down. But it can be a good alternative way to see Machu Picchu.
