August Permits: Inca Trail Availability for AUGUST 2018

The availability for the Classic Inca Trail (4D\3N) in August 2018 might be a challenge to book if you will wait too long. August is one of the high season month and Classic Inca Trail been very popular for the last few years and bringing more and more tourist every year from all over the world to hike this trek.

The Inca Trail permits are not officialy released yet for 2019 season. This release is planned for October 2018. However, as the permits for the first months of the season are quickly sold, you can pre book them in our contact form. You can also check avaiability for other months in the following table:

Classic Inca Trail

Classic Inca Trail is 26 miles (43 km) Ancient Inca road towards Machu Picchu, the road goes through stunning mountain’s scenery, lush cloud- forest, subtropical jungle and then incredible mix of Inca paving stones, ruins and tunnels. If you thinking about trekking the Inca Trail this August 2018, we would strongly recommend you to check availability now in the chart and book a trek!

Alternative tours to Machu Picchu

Because of high number of tourists every year the trail naturally gets damaged, because of this reason, the Peruvian government limits the access to the Inca Trail to 500 persons per day and that number includes all the staff which supports tourists on the trek, like porters, cooks and guides. As we mentioned before, permits for the Inca Trail can be sold out months before especially for the high season. If that happened to you, and there is no availability for the August to attend the classic Inca Trail, we are here to offer you the alternative tours to Machu Picchu.

Short Inca Trail

Most popular alternative is Short Inca Trail (2D\1N). Skipping the camping you will still experience the last part ancient Inca Trail which leads to Machu Picchu, after spending the night in a hotel or hostel the second day you will get to explore the famous ruins. Weather in August 2018

Weather has two seasons for you, the wet- summer season which starts in October until March, and dry winter season from April to September. The winter season is high season in Peru and also in Cusco, where you will start the trek. The daytime average temperature is 18°C, and nights can get cold up to -1°C. In a high altitude temperatures can change very quickly and radical. The percentage of rain is low, approximately 3 or 4 days of rain during the month.

  • “Pachamama Raymi” (Earth Mother Day) This is an Andean ritual that worships and gives tribute to the Pachamama (Mother Earth) in a special ceremony called “payment to the earth” with offerings of coca leaves, chicha de jora, and huayruro seeds (mystical jungle seeds). The rite marks the beginning of the Andean New Year.
  • Corpus of San Cristobal. The San Cristobal statue is taken in procession by many traditional neighborhoods and people that goes behind it receive blessings. There is also typical dances and food as well.
