October Permits: Inca Trail Availability for OCTOBER 2018

The availability for the Inca Trail can change any minute, especially on a high season permits are sold out months before. October may be tricky, it’s not a high season, but weather still welcome to make the Inca Trail, so we advise you have a look at the availability and book your trek on a calendar below for the October 2018.

The Inca Trail permits are not officialy released yet for 2019 season. This release is planned for October 2018. However, as the permits for the first months of the season are quickly sold, you can pre book them in our contact form. You can also check avaiability for other months in the following table:

Alternative tours to Machu Picchu

Since 2004 Peruvian government limited the number of trekkers on Inca Trail per day up to 500 persons including all the supporting staff, porters, cooks and guides. After limited the number of people for Classic Inca Trail the alternative tours were created for those who were not able to get on Classic Inca Trail. Keep in mind that as earlier you check availability as better, permits may be sold any day or minute! Here we have a several alternative tours to get to Machu Picchu.

Short Inca Trail

Short Inca Trail is 2 days and one night trek to Machu Picchu. First day you will get to hike the last part of original Inca Trail and experience the ancient mystic of Incas. You will spend the night in a hostel or hotel instead of camping, and second day you will be able to explore the famous ruins of Machu Picchu. Weather in October 2018

October is the beginning of the rainy season, but still suitable month for the Inca Trail. Weather generally splits in two main season, dry season from April to September, and wet season from October to March. The dry season is a high season. The temperature at maximum is around 19°C during the days, and nights get quite chilly up to 3°C. October may bring up to 10 days per month with heavy rains.

  • Moray Raymi is a traditional and agricultural festival in the Moray ruins. It is organized by Andean communities to show gratitude for the harvest.
  • 18th October, Lima & Cusco -The Purple Month – Lord of the Miracles (Señor de Milagros). This fascinating celebration combines Catholic, indigenous and African traditions, and is celebrated more fervently in Lima.
  • 31 October. Dia de la Cancion Criolla. National holiday celebrated most extensively on the Peruvian coast. Singers, musicians and composers pay homage to the Criolla musical tradition in various celebrations and festivals.
